Westfield College Print Collection
The Westfield Print Collection brings together prints and artworks dating from the early 16th century to 1968, collected by Westfield College. Westfield College was founded in 1882 and merged with Queen Mary University of London in 1989. The collection was acquired by Westfield College Library during the early 1970s, as teaching resources primarily for the History of Art Department.
The collection includes a wide range of artistic techniques such as etching, engraving, mezzotint, dry point, lithography, aquatint, as well as sketches and paintings. Notable Artists within this collection include Francesco Bartolozzi, John Constable, Eugène Delacroix, Francisco Goya, William Hogarth, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Salvator Rosa, Paul Sandby, and John Martin, alongside many others. It also includes a series of anonymous colour prints created by art students in Atelier Popularie [popular studio] in response to the May 1968 student revolution which began in Paris.
